Jerry Jones: "Jason Garrett Will Be Coaching In The NFL Next Year.”

Tim Fuller/USA TODAY Sports

If you ask Jerry Jones if Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL next season, he’ll say yes. It’s whether or not he’ll be coaching for the Dallas Cowboys that he gets a bit more elusive.

While on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas this morning, Jones conducted his weekly appearance and talked about everything involving the Cowboys, including whether or not Garrett will continue to be their head coach.

Usually, Jones gives a solid, clear answer. However, this morning, his answer was a bit more vague. Jones still believes Garrett is one of the best, but from the sounds of it, he may be starting to think that he may not be the best for the Cowboys.

Jerry Jones on @1053thefan: “Nobody has the exclusive skills to get the job done so that collectively you can win a Super Bowl. But there are qualified people. Jason Garrett is one of them. In my opinion, Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL next year.”

Jones’ answer leaves one to speculate that Garrett could be on his way out if the Cowboys don’t get their act together. When asked why Jones wouldn’t make a coaching change during the season, Jones said this.

Jerry Jones on @1053thefan on why he doesn’t want to make an in-season coaching change: “First of all, Jason Garrett is a good coach. He’s also one of the hardest working coaches. He knows this team better than anybody. … I’m glad to have him. He is the guy for the job.”

At least for the remainder of the season, even if the Cowboys tank, it sounds like Garrett has a job until the end of the regular season. As for the first day after, it sounds like nothing is guaranteed.
